Hi,
I am driving a E46 3 series 320I (not sold in the States but the emmission controls should be the same). I am considering to remove the CAT since the laws in my area does not mandate converters. The car is OBD II so it has O2 sensors both before and after the cat. I understand that the post CAT sensor checks the performance of the CAT. That means, if I remove the CAT and leave the O2 sensor in place, I will probably get a warning light on the dash. What would happen if I just take out the post cat sensor and stash it underneat the car somewhere and let it sniff ambient air. Would this reduce the performance of the car in anyway? Or would I still get the warning light?
My intention here is to reduce some weight, gain perhaps a couple of HP and have a better sound track. Anyone?
