I just got my American Express statements this week and did not look at them yet but I just ran across this promotion. Does it look like they are selling 3 Z4’s at $5000.00 each?

There must be a whole lot of luck involved. Do you think it goes to the first person to click in as soon as the item goes live?

This is strange but at the same time a good marketing ploy I suppose.

[EDIT] I should have put this in general [8)] I bet these cars are won by computer whiz people. So can we plaster the site with purchase requests by the thousands and win all three cars?

It says that the car is available as a first-come, first-serve basis. This is crazy, a Z4 for only $5,000? If this is true, I want one !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh wait, there's only 3 of them available to purchase.

Actually, according to the mailer I got, there will be 9 available. I think they will put them up 3 a day on 3 specific days.

Each day they put up a certain, limited number of items for sale at EXACTLY 12, 4 and 9 PM EST. The idea is that you have to click at exactly the designated time. Whoever's requests get in first for the available items get them. So it's pretty random as to who will win IMHO.

I tried it on Monday when they had a whole bunch of Vespa scooters available. Not that I wanted one, I just wanted to see how it worked and figure out how to beat the system or improve my odds. They d/l a real time clock/purchase applet to your PC. So I figured - why not open 4 or 5 browser windows and click BUY on each window as fast as possible? Like sniping on EBay!

Guess what? After opening 3 windows, my processor utilization went to 99% and the on-screen clocks in each window were not accurate. I'm thinking they did this to prevent people from doing trying to improve their odds. It told me I was too late, all items were sold.

Yep, I saw a commercial as well. This must be the real deal. It was very odd to see a Z4 and then see a $5,000 price tag... It's the nice 3.0 too!

just basically a sales gimic for AMEX, i mean how much interest they must be making and selling those cars at that price isn't that much of a loss, i mean there is some advertising on bills and commercials but the word of mouth is really good on this promotion, more people will probably sign up for AMEX

I kept hammering it, probably about 45 - 50 times, and I actually got in at around 11:45 AM EST. Crap luck I think.

I hit the "buy" button at 12:00:00 and it said "checking for BMW Z4 availability" . It stayed that way for about 10 minutes, LOL. I knew that after a few seconds it was all over, but I wanted to see if it ever responded. It didn't. Surprise, surprise!

Some lucky bastard just bought a Z4 for $5,000 !!!!!

If you Google the web for MyLifeMyCard.com there are all sorts of message boards now with various discussions, conspiracy theories, etc.

If nothing else, AMEX has created one heck of a new Internet marketing/advertising scheme.

I didn't get the 4:00 car. [bigcry]

Don't know how good this will be for AMEX, at least from the BMW's offered. But I am sure they will be okay unless the tech. people's relatives start driving Z4's.

Anybody win it yet? I tried but messed up when it was searching for the "availability". Accidently clicked elsewhere on the site and the blue window closed on me, F#UCK!!!! I could have sworn it was me. I smelled it.

There's no way any of us not on the East Coast are gonna win this thing. Just read that little notice "about the clock." There's a 3 second lag. And it's approximate. Guess too early, and it won't count. Guess too late, and well, you're too late. Don't even have a fighting chance of tryign to time it with the clock.

The time syncing isn't the greatest even on the east coast. I gather that the server is in New Jersey. I tried again at 4 PM. I had two PCs set up, and I have one of those digital Atomic clocks that syncs via radio wave. One PC was dead on with the atomic clock, the other PC was about 1 second slow,

I wasn't home at 9 PM to go for that one. I guess there are still 6 more chances.

I may try for the Smartphone tomorrow with 300 available and see how I do.

Two more weeks of Z4's though. It would be nice if someone here hit one. I would guess there are millions of people trying.

Clock does seem to be a problem and I was thinking the same thing, the greater the distance away the smaller the chance.
