Business CD player playing MP3

I have a BMW Business player with CD changer in my new 520i, 2004 model.

The instruction book says that the player can play burned MP3 cd's if it is recorded using Fraunhofer codec. I have tryed this without any success using several types of recording methodes and CD's.

Does anyone have experience with this player?

Business CD player in my '03 330 cannot play MP3; although yours is '04 model, I never heard of any significant differences in that area (and, BTW, since MP3 is well-defined standard, it absolutely does not matter what codec is used). I do play MP3s, but with Alpine CD-changer in the trunk.
