Made an appointment with my BMW dealer to bring my car in for general service and requested a loaner car. The appointment is in three weeks and was curious if anyone knew what they are giving out for loaners these days.. I heard one member got an e90 [:D]

It completely depends on the dealer. For example our closest dealer is Beverly Hills BMW, and they will not give anyone a loaner...even if we bring in the Z8 Alpina, or if someone has a brand new 760Li that was purchased there.

Last week, when my dealer did some programs I wanted programmed, I was given a 2005 Land Cruiser. Normally we get an E46 325i, and a few times we were given a Z4.

At a dealership I use to go to in Eastern Washington I once got these loaners; an X3, a 325 and in one case an 88 M6 that the dealership owned that was in excellent condition!

We've only gotten e46 and now e90 3 series... everytime we take a car in I wait patiently by the window to see if it's something special - alright, so that's not true, but I always inspect the car!

Just mention to them that the dealership you got your last car loan you E90 or newer BMW, and show them you are not comfortable to buy if they don't guarantee a loaner in the future. Of course, you got to get the sale manager involved and ask for his name card.

BMW never gave us a loaner. Nor Porsche. We did get one with the Infiniti, Lexus and Mercedes. No on Honda or Toyota, unless it is warranty and the car is kept overnight. Dodge did give us a loaner (over 10 years ago).

The mercedes dealership gives loaners but only to people who bought the car at that particular dealership. Although, I talked to my service advisor and they can put in a special request. They usually give out C230's or Ml350's.. Although they have a problem where people dont return the loaners for a really long time. Did it ever happen to anyone, that no loaners were not available (at bmw that is)?

The BMW dealer claims they have no loaners available, unless you make an appointment a-month-and-a-half in advance.
I'm glad I just call and leave a message with my service advisor that I'll be there the next day sometime.....with a loaner I don't care if they keep it a week or so, they can fit it in when they get time......a month and a half for an appointment, that's crazy.....
