I have been a member for a long time and even served on a chapter executive board. It is a great organization nationally, however it is the local chapter that makes it or breaks it for the members. Some chapters are into "track" events at the expense of everything else and the "track junkies" get all the attention, benefits, plus use all the chapter resources for their events. This has divided many chapters. I attended most every event, track, social, tours, drives, you name it. Nothing wrong with track events, in fact they are usually what bring funds to the chapters. You need a balance so every member feels they are a part of the chapter. That said the Roundel and discounts are worth the price of membership, and go to your chapter events with an open mind that you will meet new friends and learn new things.

I also enjoy Roundel and the discounts on merchandise at BMW dealerships so it is worth the membership. Our local events are pretty much the same couples over and over. Plus, a big bonus is being a member for a year and getting cash back on your next lease or purchase of a BMW.........so that suits me too.

I joined recently. The closest chapter meetings are about an hour away, I have never attended any of them. My reasons for joining were Roundel Magazine and member discounts on parts. That alone can pay for the membership. After being a member for a year, you qualify to get a "Membership Reward" check when you buy a new or CPO BMW, I think it's around $500.

Big Daddy, when is the next meet. I went to the website and put my name in the info packet they will send, but never got a responce back.

Where are the meeting held at in Western Washington? Are they usually held around Lake Sammamish? I would like to attend sometime to see what they are like. I do intend on joining sometime in the near future. Can you bring future members to scout it out?

They are usually held on Mercer Island, the last one, January 6th at the fire station. I assume the next one will be the first part of Feb at the Mercer Island fire station. I will see that you get notice. I am fairly new in this chapter and have not attended a lot of meetings here. I am trying to get on the Street Survival Committee. This is a big active chapter. When do you want to get together for coffee, let's do it next week when they say the weather is going to warm up?
