This is kind of to add on what kirby said - only this is straight from the company

BMW Z4 COUPE WILL BE OUT IN JUNE 2006. M COUPE RETURNS.
11/22/2005

Munich. Following strong consumer reaction to the concept Z4 Coupe at the 2005 Frankfurt and Tokyo Auto Shows, BMW has confirmed that both the Z4 Coupe and an M version, the M Coupe will enter series production.

Visitors in Frankfurt and Tokyo were captivated by the car’s stylish body with its unique silken matte finish, tailored in the very best style of a classic sports coupe. While the driving dynamics potential of the vehicle was clear in its strong, purposeful lines, equally appealing to visitors was the striking interior design.

To be produced in Spartanburg, S.C., the first vehicles will be delivered to customers as early as June 2006.

The proven 255 horsepower (U.S. SAE net) in-line 6-cylinder engine with its high output and lightweight magnesium and aluminum construction promises superior agility and high performance. It not only catapults the Z4 Coupe to the top of the international competitive field but is also demonstrates the enormous performance capacity of the fundamental BMW Z4 Roadster concept – which forms the basis of the coupe.

BMW is also working to produce a high-end variation as quickly as possible and the result will be the return of the M Coupe, based on the new Z4 Coupe. Powered by the exciting 3.2-liter high-rpm engine, familiar from the BMW M3 and winner of many international awards, it will also come out in June 2006.

More detailed information on the BMW Z4 Coupe and Z4 M Coupe will follow in early 2006.

Much better looking than the Cayman, I just hope the build quality is improved, better doors, no more CLUNK!
Better build quality, no more clunk?? What's that Matthew??? [fake]

If my memory serves me right, you blasted me a while back when I said the Z4 is a great car, but the build quality is sub most BMWs (besides the X3, which I do like though), and the doors are thin, and make a cheap clunk noise.

Was I right all along??? [drinking]

I always thought most BMW doors make some of the worst sounds when you close them. The best-sounding doors I've ever heard are probably from the Mercedes S-Class.

Mercedes has incredible sounding doors, and an S Class sounds about as good as it gets, especially a 1992-1999 S Class. Although BMW 7, X5 and the E90 sound really, really solid, with that bank vault sound when they are closed. The Z4 and the X3 are probably the worst sounding doors of any German car made today.

I've always said that; the door handles are the big flaw too. Every time I'm in a parking ramp, if I have the Z4 and I close the door all you can hear is a tremendous CLUNK! Scares the hell out of people.

I'm trading it in though, getting a new 330xi, put an order in for the Z4 Coupe, I was talking to the dealer today and he said they can't keep Z3s on the lot the most time they have had one is 1 week!

Yes that is a very big pic. Nice looking coupe. I like it much better than its predecessor. Any idea what the price range will be? The Cayman is starting at around 59k and I am looking forward to test driving one of those.

Are they multi-pot calipers I see on that M-Coupe???? Have BMW FINALLY realised that single-piston calipers are a complete and utter waste of time in the present era? I do hope that they've finally come to their senses. It's just such a pity that they didn't start with the M3CSL.
