Can you loan a bmw if you dont have a bmw? I have a land rover and I would like to drive a car with a stick that has some kick. I looked around in rental places but none have Bimmers, so i was wondering if its possible to like rent a bmw from the dealer?

I've had several loaners, each time it was either a 325i or 325i wagon (325iT?) I asked for a Z4 once, but didn't get one. I think it is up to the dealer as to what loaners they use?

I got a 330Ci when my 530i was in a few weeks ago. It had only 10,700 miles on it but it was in pretty shoddy condition. I guess that's what happens to a car when people think they have the right to rag on it just because it's a loaner. [rolleyes]

What's like the minimum year your car has to be to qualify for a loaner? My friend brought his '91 325ix to a BMW dealership one time, and the lady said something like "Now because of the age of your car, you do no qualify for a loaner"... So yeah, anyone know the cutoff year?

Sounds more like they wanted an excuse not to give your friend a loaner.

Was your friend perchance under 25, and perhaps not covered by their insurance?

I recently got a Nissan Exterra [thumbd]. I hear there're several factors:

- BMW loaners are limited in supply so you have to get there early or possibly ask your SA ahead.
- How long your car will be there
- Whether you bought your car from that dealership. This varies by dealership but this seems to be the general rule.
