I doubt the Solstice is available in quantities large enough to make the list. Also, would the typical Solstice buyer be a lease kind of person or a purchase kind of person? For some reason, I think most Solstice buyers would not lease, although I have no idea as to why I think that!!!

A friend of mine told me (Business Manager for a GM dealership) they are only going to make somewhere around 5,000 Solstices and 5,000 Skys a year? Funny GM actually makes a car people want but don't deliver it to the mass market???

Back to the list

It is leasing so it all makes sense though because these are "more" expensive cars, so those who want the badge of a BMW lease it because they either can't afford it or what ever, which IMO you have to have your head examined if you thinking leasing is a good idea? Kind of like renting an apartment rather than buying a house? I wonder? I ain't never heard of equity?

Thing is - because of bmw's (current) resale, it's not much more to lease a 325i than a pontiac grand prix.

And most of the time, the 325i won't eat a rod at 90,000 miles like a certain Grand Prix I know.
[clap] Yes but a grand prix wont spin a bearing while overrevving past the software rev limiter either like a certain sports car I can think of [clap]

Are you referring to the rod bearing issue with the M3's? If so this issue had been dealt with and was disintegrating causing engine lockup only after long distant high speed runs....

Yes, I know. I was just kidding around. (hence the smilies)

I wouldn't really expect the S54 to be absolutely bullet proof anyways - its damn closer to being a race engine than a commuter car engine.

With my response I just wasn't sure if your reference was on the M3 rod bearings or if there was another I didn't know about. That "Service Bulletin cost BMW a small fortune.....hehe.....

Nah I was talking about the M3, but I know they fixed the issue through service work. At least BMW fixed all M3's... when our head gasket went at mid-40k miles on our van, pontiac pretty much told us to f*** off. When the lower-intake gasket went bad at 37k miles (1k after warranty - and it was a manufacture design flaw and GM has SA on the issue) we still had to pay, they refused to fix it.

I think it is very smart to lease a BMW 3 series. You get free maintenance, full warranty and you pay under $400 per month to own a great car. Not to mention, many people can write the payments off.

The average BMW owner will take their car to the dealer for all service work. The 60,000 mile service has to be in the $800 - 1,200 range. I know brakes are $500 per axle (pads, rotors and labor), which should be done every other brake change. An oil change is over $100 at the dealer!

I'm still absolutely amazed at dealer costs... for $500 I could get brand new 13" vented aluminum rotors and 4pot calipers + pads for my car and $0 for labor doing it myself... Let alone $500 for stock brakes? Geesh! So glad I can do the work myself [xx(]
