BMW Cell Phone

I recently bought an '01 X5 4.4. I love the car and wish I had gotten it sooner. It came pre-wired for the BMW phone, but I really don't want to get that phone. I know about the Bluetooth technology, but I'm not a real big fan of any of the phones they have. Does anybody know if somebody makes a conversion that allows you to use some of the other phones? I've seen some other sites which offer hands-free, but I don't think they relate to the BMW system specifically. I would really like to take advantage of the pre-wired features, but it's not looking like it. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Car Phone

i have a 2000 740il and did get the phone. It is the older star tec and I need to update. Did you find any solution to use a different type of phone to access the BMW electronics or did you find an acceptable alternative for hands free usage?

Hey Mic5300, I have the same issue as you and have spoken to many people about it. Aside from going to the PARROT Bluetooth aftermarket products (which I here is very good) I have BMW Client Relations calling me back with any other phones, if any, so I can take advantage of the prewired system.
