BMW Assist

I was wondering...for those of us who bought our Bimmers with the BMW Assist service (myself included) has anyone ever really used it? I have the first year free but I have yet to use the service.

Other then the fact that God Forbid an accident, or something similar to that, would happen is the service any good and worth it?

Not in its current incarnation. I took out my Assist module and put Bluetooth in its place.

If they would have integrated BT with the '04 Assist and given it more functionality, ala OnStar, it may have been worth it. I live in a large urban/suburban area, though, so the autodial on airbag deployment is kinda redundant since there is a hery high probability that someone would see any accident I'm involved in. Yes, I travel, but rarely in my Bimmer.

Mmmm - can't chose either of your options. Yes, I have used it once when my car started acting up on the tollway to request a tow truck, which was convenient, but I could have almost as easily called 1-800-tow-truck. Unfortunatly, the OnStar system is much better as they can also semi-diagnose your car over the line and keep constant updates to your location, as well as having more options (also available with BMW Assist for a $4.95 charge per use), and cell usage (not available with BMW Assist). BMW assist must requery the system to get an update where they put you on hold to do it. That being said, we never re-uped the contract on my wifes OnStar system, nor will we be re-upping BMW assist. Just not worth the $$$ imo.
