Has anyone seen the "fin" BMW is putting on the roof of the 2004's to facilitate the BMW assist feature in the premium package? (Just awful!) Anyone know how to ditch the fin at the factory and keep the premium package? What about removal options for this eyesore on so many beautiful cars...is this possible?

What a stylistic disappointment.

so did I, but you can't get brushed aluminum trim without PP

had to settle for titanium. looks a little tacky compared to the aluminum, but better than staring at that ugly fin everyday

yeah, the fin is relatively subtle compared to some other manufacturers. If it really bothers you, just have a shop take it off and fill in the hole.

yea codex got it right. I have an old 325i but some idiot still had a cell phone hookup and attacted a fin to the top of the roof. took it to the body shop and had them cut it out and fill it in when i was getting my car painted. they did a REALLY good job, no seems or anything - could never tell it was there

Yeah it doesn't look that bad, epj3, but I think everyone is in agreement in saying that it looks much better without the fin.

Get this. When I ordered my 2004 Cic convertible this past January WITH BMW assist,
my husband asked the sales guy where BMW was going to put the fin......
We were TOLD it would be hidden in the rear bumper. WTF????
How well is that going to serve me in the case of a rear end collision??
FWIW, the only accidents I have ever been in, have been cases of being hit from behind while being at a dead stop at a traffic light (NO minor event when you're driving a 2 seater car
I still can't believe that's where they will put it, but haven't been able to find any data either confirming (or denying) the salesman's claim.
Anyone here know how I could find out for sure? TIA
