BMW a victim of vandalism?

While cleaning off my car the other day, I notice orange paint splatter underneath some trim. Sometime in March, soon after I first got my 325, my car was shot up with paintballs while outside a movie theater. I looked at all the cars around mine, and none were hit in the lot. Then I remember when outside a wal-mart I letf my moonroof open on a summer day in my 318, and came back to find somebody used my car as a trash can for their half-full milkshake. Is there a pattern here? Have any of you gotten this kind of bull$*it around where you live just because you have a BMW? [:(!]

orange paint splatter is probably from you accidently driving over fresh painted lines on the road -- it happened in our minivan. Sucks about the paintballs though.

Yeah...never fun to go out to your car and see ornage paint all over the car. I am glad it didn't dent the car or crack a window, it was 30 degrees that night!

Could be random. Or, and I'm not accusing you, but maybe you parked bad or something and didn't realize it. For example, I was down in Westwood visiting my g/f. There was some idiot who, yes, drove a BMW (and I'm willing to bet bought it just for status). Idiot parked so that they took up two parking spots along the curb. If you know Westwood (UCLA area), you know parking is at a premium. I just happened to be holding a pretty empty cup of soda I was looking to toss and I couldn't find a trash can. That BMW sure looked like a tempting trash receptacle to me. I exercised self control, but I've seen a few badly parked cars on that street who were mistaken for dumpsters.

I found that people will vandallize my car just because it's nicer than theirs. In 96 I bought one of the first Z3 in town, parked it in a premo spot (within the lines) and came back out to find a large dent in my hood, door and my side mirror knock off. The car was only parked there, at the most, 20 min.

I still get made about it!

That's wrong. But I did overhear a Corvette owner complain to his passenger when they found his car vandalized. Course, he parked right smack in the middle of a line taking up two spaces in a parking structure of a big event. Some people are just clueless and deserve it. But sometimes it's just jealous vandals.

Well, not to blow my own horn, but one of the biggest parts of my job involves maneuvering my car in tight spots and LOTS of parking. On average, I'd say I have to park my car somewhere about 20-40 times a night. I just get the feeling that if I were in my old crappy Taurus wagon, stuff like this wouldn't happen as much. Don't always assume if someone is parked over the parking lines that they did so intentionally. Sometimes one idiot at the end of a line parks over a line and everyone else has to do the same. As people come and go and start parking within the lines, the last person from the early group looks like a moron.

And there is NEVER a good excuse to vandalize a car. If you have a problem with the owner, deal with the owner. Vandalism is a cowardly act. [chair]

9 times out of 10 it is some jealouse asshole. A friend of mine just bought a 2003 ZO6 Vette, thing is absolutely gorgeous. drove it to my work and in the 3 mins it took for him to come and get me, some asshole took a blade and ran it down the entire side of the of his car. I am talking to the bare ass metal. That is almost a death worthy offense. I could see an accident, but when you maliciously damage some one elses car out of spite......boy you got it comin'. It would be one of those "moment of passion" crimes for me.
