I have a 2001 530 with integrated Siemens handset and phone. I'm told its a BIT 2 unit. The handset is cordless. It's NOT Bluetooth.
The handset has been playing up and I have sourced a replacement on ebay. Problem is the replacement is 'logged on' to its original phone system in some other car. There is an option to log off but I need to be in the other car to log off that system before I can log on to my own.
It seems to me that there must be a sequence of keys or secret reset button to do a hard reset (there is a software reset option but that does not over-ride the fact that the handset is logged onto the other car - incidentally it also puts the phone into German - verry interesting).
I've tried removing the batteries for a few days - no difference. I've heard that deep freezing car radios can clear the security code (is this an urban myth?) and so the phone is currently in the deep freeze (would you believe) carefully wrapped to avoid any moisture damage.
Can anyone help - the local dealer is very nice but would prefer me to pay out £200 for a new handset!
