Who cares, it's a sack of shit. Why would you want a pickup truck that goes 0-60 in 4.8 seconds? Another useless pickup truck, just like that Chevy SSR thing. The red lines you see in the bed of the truck are "luxury" wooden inserts, which completely defeats the purpose of having a pickup truck. Another pointless, ugly idea from Chevrolet.

I have seen the SSR in person, I would sport one if I had the money to blow, nice cruizer. Possible future collector item as well.[;)]

Lol, I'm not a fan of pickups, either. But I think that's really cool that you can do the 1/4 mile in 11.42 seconds in a pickup truck. And I kinda like the Chevy SSR...maybe I'm just a sucker for convertibles. [;)]

I don't think there is anything too amazing about a fast pickup. There are always cars with insane turbos on them, jet engines, or whatever else. I don't think that that pickup is very cool either, which would tend to make me think it is absolutely pointless, as it serves no work purpose either. I like the regular GMC pickups because they're good trucks and do what they're made for.

The Chevy SSR on the other hand is the most disgusting vehicle I've seen since the new 5,6,7 series BMWs. It's one thing to give a car company credit for trying new things, but the SSR is just so incredibly ugly that I don't understand how any company could put out a car like that.

Except for the BMW part, I completely agree.

Im thinking ElCamino here... but these days, you have to think outside the box. I like all the cars Chevy is coming out with in 2004. 2003 was a testing ground imo (a change and now refined). i personally like the SSR because its different, might be a joke in the future, but a collectors item like carcus said.

big fast trucks are impressive - who cares about the practicality! dont tell me your jaw wouldnt drop if that sucker pulled up next to you at a light and was gone 4 seconds later!
Some people play for drag in the 1/4 mile, they dont care for twisties.

I don't like the SSR. If I was gonna buy a pickup, I want something macho that's useful as well. The SSR looks pretty girly to me. Weak engine, curvy body, not very efficient use of space. I'd much rather have the Viper powered Ram or a souped of F-150 or something.

I'd rather just buy a car.

I'm not a huge fan of the SSR, either but you guys are missing the point. The SSR was supposed to be a remake of the old-school Chevy pickup trucks. It is a retro truck in modern form that packs that cool hard-top convertible trick and I think people who appreciated the original pickup and its style are really going to love the SSR.

I think the SSR is a disgrace to the original pickups. The originals were built for utility. The SSR, like someone else said, is a girly car. The SSR is just as stupid and pointless as the Subaru Baja and both are insults to real pickups.

I love big, fast vehicles. They are such sleepers - perfect for wasting people from stoplight to stoplight. The point of fast pickups/land yatchs isn't to beat other cars in the twisties, but to wipe the smiles from a punks face when he sees your brake lights in the distance. Cracks me up every time when a sleeper puts someone away...

the SSR is one ugly piece of shit. convertible pickup that u cant fit anythign in. they just want to satify the craze for pickups. 1/2 the guys at my school have huge trucks and none of them carry anything in them.

but anyways. a lot of trucks have amazing torque and then turbos and stifff aded on and raising rev limit can do a lot i think. plus the wheels are big. a firend has a v10 dodge ram diesel and shit 3000 redline, but its fasssst (my bimemr will smoke it but even still way fast) . . . stock too. u let it rev more, add some kind of forced induction system. . .

It isn't a V-10 diesel. It's either a gas V-10 or its a diesel. The Cummins diesels in the Dodge pickups are big straight sixes. Plus, it's already got a forced induction system - they are turbo diesels.

I like the styling of the SSR and the whole "retro" idea. The truck is not intended to be used as a hauler - that's not its purpose. Just like Carcus said, it's a cruiser, and I think it's a pretty unique one. However, after seeing one in person at the Chevy dealer, I'm not so sure about it. Something just doesn't seem right to me - I think I don't like the proportions or something. IMO, the back end sits way too high and is too long. I think this truck should have been low and wide and it definitely isn't.
