How many of you knew that Chris Bangle, BMW's chef is actually from
Wausau, Wisconsin - He's an American! (Or as I like to call it Mini-Germany)?

He grew up about 20 miles away from were I am!

How many people know this?

Well that would explain why BMW is looking to build a factory in Wausau, it's like a manufacturing/industrial city smack dab in the middle of Wisconsin one hour from Green Bay and 3 hours from Minneapolis.

55-65 % German Descent - With "mountains" & pine forests surrounding it.

If you really want to know all about Bangle and meet him in person (hehehe), he is a keynote speaker at AutoWeek's Design Forum. At the botton of this page is his "resume" which tells you everything you might want to know about him. Among other things, he attended U of Wis.

January 12, 2005

The AutoWeek Design Forum sponsored by Johnson Controls Inc., brings together people from varied backgrounds - students, car design professionals, designers allied to the field - who recognize that design is the ultimate differentiating factor.

For the car industry, design provides utility, it is the catalyst of passion, and it is the main factor in moving a consumer from being just inquisitive to being a buyer.

Join us as members of the design community address the theme: "A Car's Life: Designed to Entertain."

I knew. Didn't matter to me. A person can suck, no matter where they're from. I don't hold it against Wisconsin people. I've met some lovely people from that state. They just produced a bad apple. Happens to the best of em.

I knew he was from Wisconsin and that he was an American. I also know that he used to work for Fiat, but he was fired. I think I read that Fiat fired him because the Italians didn't like the look of his cars...no joke.

Wausau's mostly German? I would've figured Polish. I know they're a lot of Poles in Wisconsin, too, and Wausaw kinda sounds like Warsaw.

Well that's good to hear especially from someone from Orange County, Wallie, Poles are mixed in well, but they’re are far more German descents, which I am proud to be mostly German.
