The KZ1R, Ascari’s new thoroughbred for the track, makes its first appearance in Holland at Auto Rai.

The KZ1R is the track-tuned version of the KZ1, the race-bred supercar for the road, of which only 50 will ever be created.

Its powerful 5.0 litre BMW based V8 engine delivers 520bhp and can reach a top speed of 200mph and goes from 0-60mph in an adrenalin pumping 3.4 seconds.

Hand-built to order at the state-of-the-art Ascari design and production facility in Banbury, the KZ1R costs around £225,000 depending on exact customer specification. Stylish, edgy and sleekly aerodynamic the KZ1R has a super-light, super-strong carbon fibre monocoque chassis and body shell weighing just 1,250kg. A front splitter and fixed rear wing add the finishing touches that turn this supercar into a track superstar. The interior is stripped to the bare bones to reduce weight even further and accommodate the integral roll cage. This is a car designed to take pole position on even the most challenging racetrack and is one to look out for in 2005.

For that price, I would rather buy one of those dealy boppers that Frolf posted the video on last week. 20k Pounds and 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. I bet that would hurt someones feelings with a 200k+ car....getting smoked by a frame with an engine in it.

You're talking about the Atom. That car is actually priced for the working man too. What a car that would be to drive and own. Tracking it would be amazingly fun....

Yah too bad that piece is powered by a Honda engine. If it had that BMW engine I think it could literally blow your lungs up from so much air going into them :p
I would not knock the Honda engines....didn't Honda beat BMW this F1 season? Honda engines maybe rice....but they are decent build quality and it hurt me to say that.

tool fan makes, and others did before, a good point here. in a racing car for racing purposes a honda engine can really be topnotch and kick other well-known manufaturers from the podium.

to the ascari: the front really looks like ferrari to me while the back remembers one of a corvette. you can´t actually see it in the pic, but considering how high it rises, that is corvette, isn´t it?

sure, all sports cars have similar design elements and aspects here and there and i didn´t want to bash at it. it´s just what came to my mind. it´s still a real hot racer, especially as it is so rare!
