I visit a site from the Netherlands (autoscoops.be) ocasionally. Dutch is close enough to German that I can decipher a little of it, and I run it thru a translator if it looks interesting:
"BMW see themselves obliged approximately 30.000 M3's of the current generation (E46) to the concessionnaires to call back. The cause lies at the ball-lower of the krukas which to engine damage can lead. M3-rijders concerned by BMW will be contacted. Rather there was also already a clamour action because of a badly functioning oil pump."
It seems as though there is an oil pump problem that can lead to main bearing failure. Note that this was recalled before, this is a new recall. There are a few other German boards with a similar message posted in the past few days.
