Anyone own a Land Rover Freelander?

They look like pretty cool little SAV's. (Stealing BMW's acronym). Does it compete with the X3 or X5? I'm thinking of getting my girlfriend to test drive one of those for the hell of it. Even tho a 2nd E46 would be pretty cool.

Not comparable, The freelander is really low quality from Land Rover, I have a Discovery and the Freelander is just different cheap built quality. A lot of plastic.. It feels unconfortable and small. A discovery S is like 38k or a SE like I have around 40k ( if u want to go with land rover get a Discovery), but.. if I were you Id stay away from land rover as they have major quality issues, and technical problems...

<------ Spent 6-7k on Discovery repairs.

I have a neighboor in my building who has a freelander, he regrets buying it...
While the X3, is a proper mid size suv. I have seen a review for it from Fifth Gear ( British auto program) and they say the X3 is good except that it is slightly pricey.

but paying 6 to 7 k on repairs sounds like someone got taken.

I am a LR junkie...and they are simple to fix...but then again I love and maintain my E32 M70 powered BMW and most people shy away from them as well.
