Im new to the San Jose area and I have a 91 E30 M3 with about 210k miles. I feel its about time my baby get a rebuilt engine and was thinking of getting it from this site called www.bavengine.com does anyone know anything along the lines of if the engines from there are good or does anyone have any recommendations to where I should get a rebuilt engine?
Also I hear theres a M3 "club" in california ive been trying to search for it online to maybe go and get some help with my car and stuff but anyone know if they have a website or any way to contact them?

That site does not sound too bad, I have heard that it can run between 10-15k to rebuild a e30 M 3 motor. Try searching BMW CCA's web site for the M3 Club, or call your local chapter and ask them what speciality clubs are in the area, they tend to know these things and several of their members are most likely members of the speciality clubs.

Call Tony at Mechanic Masters he is the best BMW mechanic I know, races them, belongs to BMW CCA, ICSSC, etc. Tell him Dan referred you he can steer you in the right directions.

well theres getting to be lots of leaks and alot of other little problems, it still runs quite well but just kinda feels like the engine need to be replaced. I would rather keep the body spend money gettin a new engine instead of buying a new car too, sentimental reasons and stuff. Anywho back on subject my father also said that the new M3 engines will still fit in my car, so I may look into getting a more powerful engine. I am gonna try and restore my baby to its former glory.

maybe i should add this, i brought my car into german motor specialist to get the major tuneup and they did an overall inspection of my car and these were some of the things that kind of influenced my decision to get a new engine. Now mind you im not too smart with cars, i just know to change the oil and stuff, but these things i have no clue on:
1. A/C compressor mounting bushings are torn
2. Excessive oil leak from front of engine area, oil leak from upper timing cover gasket and distributor seal
3.excessive tickign noise due to exhaust leak from exhaust manifold gaskets, some of the bolts are missing ( getting that fixed right now)
4. fluid leak from transmission casing
5. Lower radiator hose is soft and oil saturated
6. oil lak from PCV crankcase house, hose is cracked
7. oil leak from transmission output shaft and shifter seals
8. Power steering fluid leak from hose from reservoir to pump, (hose clamps already replaced)
9. oil seepage from front head gasket area

So those are the problems that i think has more to do with the engine, im not sure if these are thigns that will be fixed with getting a new engine or not but if anyone has any input thatd be great.

A/C compressor mounting bushings are torn
This is a fairly easy fix and has nothing to do with your engine.

Excessive oil leak from front of engine area, oil leak from upper timing cover gasket and distributor seal
Front main bearing seal, can be replaced without replacing engine.

excessive ticking noise due to exhaust leak from exhaust manifold gasket
Your getting this repaired. No problem.

fluid leak from transmission casing
Where on the transmission is the case cracked? Still not involved in engine rebuild.

Lower radiator hose is soft and oil saturated
oil lak from PCV crankcase house,
Cheap easy fixes

[/QUOTE]oil leak from transmission output shaft and shifter seals
Not involved in an engine rebuild, have all your transmission seals replaced if it is working fine.
Power steering fluid leak from hose from reservoir to pump
Easy fix and it sounds like you got this one.
oil seepage from front head gasket area
Is your head gasket blown? Maybe a retorque of the head would fix this? Have you had the compression checked? If the leak down test comes out ok, I would look at the cost of having all the "leaks" and little things done before spending 6-15k.
