I have a 99' 540ia with an analog phone system(CPT 60000VR). Moved to new region in US that primarily offers digital phone service. Is it possible to upgrade to a digital phone and retain voice recognition and steering wheel control features? Thanks?

That sounds so 4 years ago. anyway, i dont see why not.

As of today, most phones use dual analog and digital signals and the newer the phone, the more the options like voice recognition and interconectivity with your car. You just need to check with the dealer or one of the members here can help with info.

where did you move from because the new digital system that is being pushed in the states now is TDMA2000 or more commonly known as GSM which has a much higher bandwidth but not as good of coverage. I think the current digital system we have is CDMA.

welcome btw.

Appreciate the response. I'm new to this site. How do I reach other members (besides this posting) to find out if it is possible to have the existing analog phone converted to a digital phone and still retain the features mentioned (voice recognition, steering wheel dialing, etc)? I contacted Global Imports dealership in Atlanta and they said it was no longer possible. Thanks.
