It's about average. If the car has new tires, exhaust, brakes, etc. It's good. If it is mostly original, it will require some money in the near future.
Unless you know BMWs well, I would suggest taking it to a BMW dealer for a "pre-sale" inspection. For $100 - $150, they will go over the car and tell you what they find wrong with it.
If the seller won't let you do this, walk away, he's hiding something.
