6 Disc Changer Replacement

My 6 disc CD player in my trunk is shot and doesn't recognize CDs. I tried a friend's magazine to see if maybe that was the problem, but it is the CD unit itself. BMW wants $100 just to send it to their center that does the repairs. I'm thinking of just buying a new one or swapping it out for an aftermarket unit.

Can anybody recommend a good aftermarket replacement for the 6 disc CD player in the trunk? An MP3 player, or whatever?

i dont think anything will be compatible with your stock HU. they design those componets to work only with the intended stock stuff.

i do not know of anything thats compatible, but not completly sure. there are a few universal changers, Pioneer makes a good one. Send an email to Pioneer Tech Support and ask them, they could tell you for sure. that'd be my only guess for compatability, otherwise you're best off replacing it with another BMW changer.

Any luck finding a CD changer?

I have the same problem on my 98 740iL. Keeps saying "no discs". What did you do?
