Here are some new pics of the 2006 Explorer. The 2006 Ford Explorer features a new, 4.6-liter, 3-valve V-8 with variable cam timing, delivering 292 hp and 300 ft.-lbs. of torque.

It looks "ok".

The fact that it's a Ford makes it hard for me to like it. [;)]

And to be honest, I like the current Explorer much better than this one, especially the front grille.

I wonder what the MPG ratings are? If these SUV makers don't fix MPG ratings they are going to be in trouble.
A lot of the newer suv's are getting like 16 - 18 mpg city now...and even more on the highway. I'd be interested to see the figures too.

That actually looks pretty good. You can definately see Land Rover influence in there (headlights, grill, basically the whole front end), especially the Freelander. Check it out...

Not a bad thing, Freelanders are dead sexy...

Eric that is my point, I have a 97 1/2 ton extended cab Chevrolet pickup that gets 21 mpg on the highway, almost 10 years later and they might get 18 or 19 MPG? As long as they do not have to abide by any standards they are not even trying.

Looking good in the pictures. Hopefully, it's just as good in real life.

Not surprised about the tail pipes. How many SUVs go off road anyways? Especially the Explorer. Thing's always had one of the lowest ground clearances anyways.

Not a bad looking "Exploder" if you ask me. Looking very similar to their F150, which is probably one of the best looking trucks I've ever seen.

Still a Ford though.... Wait til 2007, buy it used and save about $15k over new...
