Hey fellow Bimmers -
Got a question: I'm currently investigating the purchase of a 2002 BMW 325i with standard options, 5-spd, 18,000 miles, leatherette interior, in perfect, like-new condition. The price (somewhat negotiable) the seller is asking is $21,000 obo.
Just wondering -- good price, for the near-perfect running, exterior condition with relatively low miles? The car is showroom new.
Comments are welcome. Oh, the buyer is the only owner; he bought it direct from BMW brand new while stationed in Germany with US military. I too am living in Europe now and will purchase the car in Germany and drive to Italy where I currently reside. In about 18 mos. I plan to return to the States -- will I have positive equity in the vehicle if I retain the perfect condition of the car?
Essentially I'm wondering, or looking for confirmation of what I already know, if this is a good deal.

Thanks for your responses

Thats a great deal, if its negotiable then I would still do what ever I can to lower the price, but at that price its still a good buy.

Thanks Tom & johnnyz16 for the responses Re: Good Deal on 325i for $21,000. I did check kbb.com and according to the Private Party Value since I'm buying it from a Priv Party, it values in at a whopping $27, 935! And I'm confident I should get it for around $19,500 - 20,000. So I'm feeling pretty confident about having some positive equity from day 1 and getting a good deal.
Thanks again for the response.
johnnyz16 - hope all goes well with the purchase. I know I may have made it sound terrible, but all too often it is - for the buyer. Just make sure they don't fast-talk you into something you don't like. If at any time you feel pressured or like you're getting the run around -- get up and leave. You're spending a lot of money on this car, especially a new BMW - if you don't like the deal...walk! You've got nothing to lose by doing so.

happy sales...

OK --
Leatherette? Is that something like a towelette - sort like a towel, but not quite? Absorbent, yet disposable? Just like the real thing, only smaller? Pardon my ignorance, but can someone translate BMW's leatherett into english pls? I have an idea, but want to be sure.
thanks

For $21,000 I'D buy it have have it shipped back to Michigan!!

Leatherette looks just like the real thing and wears the same, but doesn't feel the same. It felt a little 'tackier' to me. You don't slide on leatherette, you stick!

Definitely NOT more like vinyl. It's not leather, it's snythetic leather! Letherette wears well, and looks great. The only way to tell it apart from the real thing is by feel.

The pic next to the user name is your avatar. It must be 100x100 pixels in size, and can be changed by going to 'User CP' at the top right of this page, then edit options.

To upload pix into your post they cannot be larger than 50k.
