2001 BMW M5 w/ DSP: XM Radio and Blitsafe challenges

I've got a 2001 BMW M5 with DSP. I purchased from Blitzsafe their system that is suppose to essentially provide me with another audio input to my system. The Blitzsafe provided gear has two main components. The first component takes accepts audio out from the CD changer and from another source --in this case XM Radio. That device in-turn outputs unbalanced analog audio and so in order to get that to work with my BMW, Blitzsafe provides an Analog to Digital converter. Problem is, I do not get any audio into my system (BMW).

I've isolated the problem area down to the A/D converter not matching up to my BMW in terms of signal interfacing. If I simply take the analog out from the first stage of the Blitzsafe and into an preamp/amplifier stage in my garage (hi fi equipment outside of my car), I get CD audio and XM Radio audio. On my own nickel I've tried 2 different A/D converters from Radio Shack (identical to what Blitzsafe provides).

I guess my real question is, has anyone had any luck with a similar setup as mine with their 2001 5 series/M5?

In case I have not been too clear here, this is not at all an XM issue other than I'm frustrated that I cannot enjoy it in my car due to a poorly designed system by Blitzsafe.

Thanks,
Pat

I found really technical site openbmw.org. Lot's of really good, really, really technical stuff on the BMW I-Bus technology. Explains how to build your own blitzsafe CD emulator. If you can read a schematic, it might help you solve your problem.
