'02-'03 IS300 or '00-'03 3series?

I have a chance to get either one of them. What would you guys get if you can go back.

Reliability/Gas/Insurance

I'd still get the BMW. Unless you want to mod the heck out of the car and treat it like a Supra simply because it has a related engine, the IS300 doesn't have many advantages over the lowly 325i other than price.

i absolutely did not like the IS 300 after a test drive. the car felt like a supersized civic. i can't remember having one good thing to say about it. esp given the price.

but maybe i was missing something, as there are lots that like the car. i guess it just wasn't for me. driving wise, i still haven't driven a car that's as nice as a 3er in the "price range"

Try the G35 sedan. More power, good handling and nicely done inside. Of course it will be a little bit more than either car you are looking at, but it's worth the price. The maintenance cost is also much less than the BMW (you either will have no free maintenance left from the factory, or if you get an '03, you'll have about 2 years). Also, if you do opt for the 3 series, get the '03 with a late in service date and do not get a demo or a dealer loaner car.
